Church of St Pietro
Located in the square, is the oldest church in Fossato originally built to serve as the Monastery of the Camaldolesi. Surely it was built before the "castrum", because as the main church is not in the center of the castle, as it was almost rule upon the birth of a city. The church was carved into the rock to the east and north, above surmounted from the residence of the ancient monks (accessed from within the church through a steep staircase carved into the rock again) and overlooks a small square from the medieval features . This church was the largest cemetery in the territory Fossatano from its origins to 1870. Fall in total abandonment in those years because of the shift of Pievania the church of S. Sebastiano, which absorbed part of its many riches, has been restored and reopened to the public exactly a century later, leaving out some traces of frescoes, a tomb and other elements. Of great importance is the wonderful stone wash-house that is below the church of S. Peter.
