An example of medieval castle architecture in a single solution that solves the problems of traffic and defense along the inside perimeter of the walls of the west, on which opens the Portam castri that, under the embattled tower, is still the main entrance to the castle. The defense needs to prevail over those roads, the street leveled you see, did not exist and was instead a path up and down, on some points flowed together under the houses, short runs parallel from immediately above, that the highway and now Via Roma, evidently in order to facilitate the movement towards the defense of the castle walls and the Portam castri.
