Bridge of St Giovanni

The bridge, located along the route of the Via Flaminia, dates presumably in the Augustan age, has single arch, shoulders and bulkhead in square work. The bridge was used by the Romans to cross a river now disappeared and made ​​part of a project of arrangement of the old street. The monument is an opportunity to make a tour itinerary to other Roman bridges, built along the route of the Via Flaminia, which, coming into the height of Umbria Otricoli, went out to go on the Adriatic coast at Scheggia where it is visible through the vegetation 's last bridge street in Umbria. Of the building are preserved Roman part of the bow and the shoulders, made of square work of large blocks of limestone enticed to dry (the brick is a modern restoration). The bridge is dated to the early imperial period (first century AD). Recently, it has been the restoration. It is easily reached from the current S.S. 3 as Flaminia by S.S. 76 of the Val d 'Esino a few yards from the intersection of the two roads.
